Sigur Ros - Takk
Mate let me listen to this at the weekend. Very nice indeed.
Very downbeat, spacey mellow vibe. Wonderfully produced. Check it.

it's not very new, and, come to think of it, it might've been you that put me onto it on the first place, but i'm quite fond of Richard Hawley's Lowedges (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006JS6I/qid=1127769272/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/026-7750672-3291629). and he has a new record out - Cole's Corner (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000AMSJQK/qid=1127769272/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/026-7750672-3291629) - which i've heard nothing but good things about.
Tom McRae's new-ish All Maps Welcome (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000850H0U/qid=1127769423/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_11_1/026-7750672-3291629) has it's moments, but i'd probably recommend either of his previous efforts first -either his debut, Tom McRae (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004YYY6/qid=1127769423/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_11_2/026-7750672-3291629) or, particularly, his second album Just Like Blood (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000087HY8/qid=1127769373/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_11_1/026-7750672-3291629)
eeeeermmm
i take it you've heard Arcade Fire and Elbow's new records.
also, if you haven't already, check out Khonnor's Handwriting (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0006M4SQ4/qid%3D1127769581/026-7750672-3291629). it's been out a few months now, but I absolutely LOVE it, and will make the most of every available opportunity to plug it. buy it from www.typerecords.com (http://www.typerecords.com/releases/full.php?id=7)

Goldfrapp - Supernature, not their best effort as a whole, but when they're good, they're down, right good. First 1/2 of this one is definate nerve tickling.
I've had a few tastes of Depeche Mode's and now they've been able to iron out their egos, the boys are back.

Just picked up Deep Dish's artist album "George Is On," and on one listen, it's pretty damn good. Also picked up Timo Maas's new album "Pictures," but I haven't listened to it all the way through yet.

All right, definite great new music: Deep Dish "George Is On" and Timo Maas "Pictures." I've had a chance to listen to these more, and they're really good.

Kitty, Daisy and Lewis - Mean Son of a Gun
3 kids aged 11, 12 and 15 playing rockabilly with their Mum and Dad on double bass and guitar. Playing live in Highbury on Saturday 8 October, supporting the rather dodgy sounding Pipettes at the Buffalo Bar.

Mr Oizo - Moustache (Half a Scissor)
Is interesting. Not sure if it'll excite you, but it's bringing a smile to my face.
Failing that, Rachel Stevens' new album. :)

Gypsy Punks by Gogol Bordello. Mad, mad, punk/dubby/folky/whatever nonsense with characteristically meaty Steve Albini drum sound and catchy tunes. And great lyrics.
When I first heard this, got a great big silly grin on my face. :D
And the singer's going to be in the movie of Everything Is Illuminated.
