That camp over the top 4th batman movie that ruined the franchise has been given the editing make-over in much the same way people are editing Star Wars, The Matrix and Superman II. This time its Buttman & Throbbin...ooops i mean Batman & Robin: De-Assified.

Overview:

The plot is exactly the same from the original Joel Schumacher cut, as there was nothing anyone could have done to change it. We still get the ice-skating, the Freeze Rocket, Batman and Robin at the charity event, etc. However, the cutting of most of the one-liners and the campy, ridiculous dialogue, allows one to take it more seriously. This time, there is no Bat credit card and other asinine items in that vein.

No Alfred subplot/Most cheesy lines removed, as well as all the cartoony sound effects/No bat-skates, bat-credit card, butt and crotch shots, etc/The opening credits have been re-arranged to resemble more of a 'James Bond' structure: Bat logo, right into intense action, after opening action scene the main credit roll.

Read two reviews of this "fan" edit: here (http://www.batman-on-film.com/review_jett_deassified.html) and here (http://www.thearnoldfans.com/news/918.htm).

If you want to get a copy of this, you'll have to register at myspleen.com and get the torrent from there. The guy who did it, Greencapt has posted about it on the Starwars editing forums here (http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=9&threadid=2897&STARTPAGE=1). On a personal note, it really does make this godawful movie watchable and enjoyable. And because so much editing has been done, its a lot shorter too! :D

Another way of de-assifying it would be to play the Moaner film clip on repeat for 90 minutes. ;)

I'm somewhat tempted to watch this, but the memory of Batman & Robin is almost gone from my mind. I saw the film once at a screening before it's release and that was all I needed. Now that I force myself to recollect I cannot come up with anything other than some horrible scene involving guys jumping around on ice skates and Uma Thurman dressed up like a plant.

I've been using myspleen lately to grab the many DVD releases of the original star wars trilogy and the original version of THX-1138. (I was so ecstatic when I saw that posted there I nearly yelped like Homer Simpsons when he's excited.)
