So with the 2010 tour dates due to kick off tomorrow, what do you think is going to be removed from the setlist? With 6 albums worth of material and a large amount of b-sides, I'm assuming that some stuff will be dropped as UW will be wanting to promote their new material in some capacity. Unless they go to give us three hour shows (please) I'm unsure what they'd drop.

Given that OWB wasn't the most dance friendly album, I'd assume personally that you'd get either Croc or BB and nothing else, two songs plus from that album would be rare. Perhaps even TMO might be dropped now and then alongside KOS to make way for new longer tracks like Scribble.

but what might be added? that is intriguing as well...

Interesting thought, i know what i would want dropped - Glam Bucket, Crocodile and Burnout - they all bore the hell out of me.

Here is a list of underworld songs, listed in order of how many times they have been played http://uwlive.rowla.com/songs/listSongs/count

Great thread to speculate on!

I'd drop almost all of OwB for live shows -- the songs just don't seem to captivate in a live setting. Two Months Off needs to stay. Its one of their greatest songs ever. I'd love to see Two Months Off get a new treatment (kinda like NUXX or KoS did along the years) but its certainly a keeper.

Moaner can go. Its time has come. With this departure though, they'll want a new heavy hitter for the closer. Perhaps a retooling of Pearls' Girl?

Moaner has a live impact like no other track they play though. I wouldn't mind the temporary retirement of a couple other BF tracks though, namely, King of Snake and Jumbo.

Speaking for non-huge UW fans that I drag to every show in the area, Jumbo, KoS, and TMO are monsterous tracks.

Yeah I'd be okay with Moaner if it got a facelift. Lately, its been a pretty quick version to end the show. Hell, its been ending the show since 1998.

Last gig I was at saw a lot of old material played. I think it'll be minimal AHDO and OWB and playing with new stuff + stuff from the vaults.

Of the top ten most played, I'd personally like no more than three per show.

Luetin only 8 times?! For shame!

Also, while I'm looking at it, is there a recording of the solo live appearance of Ring Road?

I think the reports of that are dubious until verified.

Not likely for their Australian appearances, but I'd love to hear some more downbeat tracks played... Banstyle, Air Towel, Luetin, Best Mamgu Ever-type songs. Very sad Australia isn't getting any sideshows, because this would've been where they'd had the chance to experiement with things like that, but no. Oh well.

Australia can probably expect to hear all the well-known dancefloor bangers - I'd bet my life on them playing King of Snake, Moaner, Dark Train, Push Upstairs, and the like frequently. They might whip out Scribble, too, that's been getting a really good response from fans online and they do have that tendency to play new tunes live before they're released.

I wonder if they'll reprise any dubnobasswithmyheadman-era tunes, aside from Rez/Cowgirl? Mmm Skyscraper and Dirty Epic have always sounded incredible in a live setting, even though they're not as in your face as the previously-mentioned songs. Hmm!

Christ, I'm going to be seeing them for the first time in ten days... pretty much pissing my pants with excitement here!

Does the Peel Session count as a live show? Because they did play Trim at that.

It would be cool if they did a medley of some of the older stuff. Or they could play Puppies followed by Like a Swimmer and put everyone in a trance like state.

madness !:Dhah i can dream. maybe its because I see UW several times per tour and have seen them dozens of times already. I'm sure we can come up with a GREAT setlist that doesnt involve these tracks. Some bands have fan clubs, and fan club only gigs in small venues and they do the sort of thing like not playing any of the 'big' songs.

Ho hum. im just thinking out loud.

Two Months Off is too long live. The song could end during the long breakdown and segue into something else and actually gain momentum.

Push Upstairs needs to be retired.

More Air Towel, more Confusion the Waitress, more oddballs like Trim and 8 Ball.

Two Months Off has to go. It is too long, it is the only regularly played track that is never rearranged in any significant way, and it is dubious to begin with. If they get rid of TMO they can fit in two or three other songs, the thing is so damn long.

I think they could give Moaner a brief retirement, no? Perhaps then they could experiment with some other set-closers.
