well,
this is surprising..
i'm going to a festival next weekend,
and 'echo and the bunnymen' will be there.

i found out about them late 80's when they
made a 'comeback' with 'lips like sugar' etc..

i've really, REALLY, grown into them, but they
split up, and then got back together, and have
quietly (along with ian mcculloch's solo stuff),
created a pretty amazing back library, and new
stuff, which is still pretty cool..

the 'electrafixion' stuff rocked hard!!!!

anyways, i saw ian mcculloch tour for his first solo
album ages ago.. and i've never seen the band as
a whole.. (kicking myself for missing the show with
the orchestra, and the full version of 'ocean rain')..

anyways, there's a 3 day festival in new jersey,
and this is on sunday august 2nd...i'm meeting up
with my brother, who'll be in town doing something
else..

looks like it will be a cool show.. can't wait..

(and later this year, happy mondays/psychedelic furs,
more retro 80's-90's groups!)

I see the Happy Mondays/Psychadelic Furs are coming to Milwaukee in a couple of months. I have the first 3 albums by the Mondays and like a good amount of their tracks (especially "Step On" and "God's Cop") but honestly I have no idea if they'll be good live. Haven't heard anything by the Furs...think it'll be worth seeing??

if you didn't go to the Mondays / Furs show, you will regret it.

i've seen the psychedelic furs before, they were pretty cool..

richard butler is VERY laid back..

dont know how the happy mondays will be,
i like some of there stuff, but i like the dancey remixes though,
and not the 'rock' guitar tracks, so i dont know how that will
work out.

ok,

caught the show yesterday night with my brother..

echo were great... but the show was way too short..
they only played a few songs (1 hour).. but they were
very well done (don't remember the set list exactly).
----
lips like sugar
the cutter
villeirs terrace
bring on the dancing horses
rescue
killing moon
etc..

lots of classics, and really good breakdowns,
and improvs in there also..

the place was a stinking mud pit though..due
to a couple days of rain.. but we still had fun...

i even stayed back for some of 'coldplay's set,
which i have to admit, they do put on a good show,
especially with the lighting, stage act..

be seeing you
