View Full Version : Futureshock or Royksopp?
Well, I'm just fucking broke ok... I get the chance to either see Royksopp or Futureshock perform. I've seen Royksopp perform on Lowlands festival in august and they blew me away, amazing! However, I like Futureshock's music but I don't know if they are worth it to see them live? Anyone can tell me if they're any good?

I saw Royksopp at Winter Music Conference in Miami 2003 and was less than impressed. I'd check out Futureshock, if for no other reason than it's something you haven't seen before.

Futureshock for sure. I've seen Royksopp a few times and I'm not even sure most of it was live. It sounded and looked like a lot of it was from pre-sequenced source or PA. Entertaining sure, but not entirely convincing.
Plus, Futureshock are pretty damn good.

...I thought that Futureshock just dj-ed though? Like they would play their own records and mix them; and not just play the songs themselves live

Yeah, i saw Royksopp twice, first at Newcastle uni were it really did seem they pressed play and stood there, the only dance act ive never seen improving or mucking around with the song. However, they were much better at t in the park 03 when i last saw them.
Id say futureshock for summin new.
Are you guys sure you saw the same Royksopp as me? Fair enough they weren't sensational at this year's Glastonbury, but when I saw them at T In The Park 03 they gave one of the most energetic performances I have ever seen from a "dance" band...

Futureshock do also play live. Though they played the HMH in 2003 and the reviewer wasnt sure they were playing live either!
"Hierna speelt Futureshock live.
Leon: where are they playing? i might come along also. is it this?

I caught Royksopp's first UK show in 2 years at the Medicine Bar here in sunny Birmingham a couple of months ago, before the new album came out, and it was absolutely fucking mega. They're back next month (playing the academy) and I will be seeing them again. Fair enough maybe they don't seem to do much on stage, but when you think about it, who the fuck does (seem to anyway)? There is something about Royksopp's live performance that I find utterly hypnotic and the amount of energy that these 2 knob-twiddlers can inject into the crowd is phenomenal. I think they did Poor Leno and then carried the vocal on over Alpha Male and the room went utterly fucking spastic that night.
I caught 15 minutes of Futureshock supporting UW on the AHDO tour and can't say I'm that bothered about them. Royksopp are a more than safe bet though.

Hmmm yes Royksopp sure creates a lot of energy and gets you in this nice trancey vibe.
I'm thinking of going to both Sufjan Stevens and Futureshock now :p I'll have to see how much my money can buy.

Royksopp aren't a safe bet - they're pretty hit and miss for show quality. Futureshock were only supporting, any act's better in a club or headline setting.

Well I've caught them 3 times now and it was great each time. I can only go on my own experience. If nothing else, when I saw them recently, they were fuckign ace. And I saw Scissor Sisters embarass Zoot Woman as a support act before they hit paydirt.

Yeah but how many times does a support act do that versus the amount of times they don't?
